Capsule hotel now operating at Kota Kinabalu International Airport

KOTA KINABALU: A capsule hotel is now operating at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport with the opening of the Napzone Capsule Hotel.

The Gintell-developed hotel opened its doors to the public on Nov 1 and has garnered much attention since then.

Its first few customers accidentally walked into this hotel while waiting for the next flight out, and started sharing about it in now-viral posts on social media.

Gintell Rest & Go regional operations manager for Sabah and Sarawak, Gan Jenn Yih said the capsule hotel can accommodate 40 guests, adding that the hotel was set up to help make travellers’ flying experience more comfortable.

“Kota Kinabalu has one of the busiest airports in the country, and there have been requests from travellers as well as the airport management for such services here,” he said.

“This is why Gintell decided to introduce this type of hotel here,” he added.

Gan said the Napzone capsule hotel is open 24 hours a day, and added that it is divided into male and female sections.

There are toilets and bathrooms, coffee and drink machines as well as a charging port in each capsule for customers.

“There are also oxygen pumps for customers, all free of charge if they book with our capsule hotel,” he said, adding that the rooms are mostly fully occupied every day.

Gan said they are still installing several other facilities for customers at Napzone, and will have a grand opening after everything is fitted in.
